Description

This Potsticker Salad is a fresh, umami-packed twist on frozen dumplings. Juicy tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, herbs, and a tangy-sweet dressing make it a quick and flavorful meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb frozen gyoza dumplings (vegan or regular)
  • 1 lb heirloom tomatoes, mixed colors
  • 1 English cucumber (or 4 Persian cucumbers)
  • 5 scallions, thinly sliced
  • 1 red chili pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds (or crispy fried onions)
  • Garlic chili sauce (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Steam or cook dumplings according to package instructions.
  2. Transfer dumplings to a large bowl and lightly coat with a small splash of sesame oil or water to prevent sticking.
  3. In a small bowl, mix tamari, balsamic vinegar, and maple syrup to make the dressing.
  4. Pour dressing over dumplings and gently toss to coat.
  5. Slice tomatoes, cucumber, scallions, and chili pepper.
  6. Add vegetables to the dumplings and mix well.
  7. Tear basil leaves over the top and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  8. Serve at room temperature with optional garlic chili sauce.

Notes

  • Feel free to add extra vegetables like cabbage, carrots, bean sprouts, or edamame.
  • For extra flavor, serve with garlic chili sauce.
  • Pan-fry dumplings instead of steaming for a crispy version.
  • Best served fresh at room temperature.
