Description

Crispy on the outside, melty on the inside—these Tuna Melt Patties are a quick, budget-friendly twist on classic tuna melts made with pantry staples and ready in under 20 minutes.


Ingredients

  • 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna, drained
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (or Swiss)
  • 2 tbsp green onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp butter (for cooking)


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix tuna, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, egg, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Stir in shredded cheese and green onions until well combined.
  3. Form mixture into 4–5 patties.
  4. Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  5. Cook patties for 3–4 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
  6. Optional: Top with extra cheese and broil for 1 minute for a melty finish.
  7. Serve hot with toast, buns, or salad.

Notes

  • Use panko breadcrumbs for extra crispiness.
  • Add more breadcrumbs if mixture is too wet.
  • Add a little mayo if mixture is too dry.
  • Try Swiss, mozzarella, or Pepper Jack for variation.
