Description

These oven-baked halal cabbage burgers are a low-carb, crispy-edged, cheesy comfort meal featuring juicy spiced beef patties baked on tender roasted cabbage rounds instead of buns.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb halal ground beef or ground chicken
  • 1 small head cabbage (cut into thick rounds)
  • 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire-style halal sauce
  • 1 egg (optional, for binding)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (for brushing cabbage)
  • 1 cup shredded halal cheese (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice cabbage into thick 1/2-inch rounds and brush both sides with olive oil.
  3. In a bowl, mix halal ground meat, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, Worcestershire-style sauce, and egg.
  4. Press meat mixture onto each cabbage slice to form burger-style patties.
  5. Place on baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes until meat is cooked through.
  6. Top with cheese and broil for 3–5 minutes until melted and golden.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure Worcestershire sauce is halal-certified or use soy-based substitute.
  • For extra crispiness, bake cabbage alone for 5 minutes before adding meat.
  • Best served fresh while cheese is melted and gooey.
