Description
These oven-baked halal cabbage burgers are a low-carb, crispy-edged, cheesy comfort meal featuring juicy spiced beef patties baked on tender roasted cabbage rounds instead of buns.
Ingredients
- 1 lb halal ground beef or ground chicken
- 1 small head cabbage (cut into thick rounds)
- 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire-style halal sauce
- 1 egg (optional, for binding)
- 2 tbsp olive oil (for brushing cabbage)
- 1 cup shredded halal cheese (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Slice cabbage into thick 1/2-inch rounds and brush both sides with olive oil.
- In a bowl, mix halal ground meat, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, Worcestershire-style sauce, and egg.
- Press meat mixture onto each cabbage slice to form burger-style patties.
- Place on baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes until meat is cooked through.
- Top with cheese and broil for 3–5 minutes until melted and golden.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Ensure Worcestershire sauce is halal-certified or use soy-based substitute.
- For extra crispiness, bake cabbage alone for 5 minutes before adding meat.
- Best served fresh while cheese is melted and gooey.
