Ingredients
- Meatballs:
- 1 lb halal ground beef
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan (halal-certified)
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and black pepper
- 1 large egg
- Casserole:
- 2 cups uncooked penne pasta
- 1 jar marinara sauce (halal-certified)
- 2 cups halal beef broth
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (halal-certified)
- Garnish: Fresh basil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F) and grease a baking dish.
- Mix meatball ingredients and form into 16 meatballs.
- In baking dish, combine pasta, marinara, broth, and seasonings.
- Place meatballs into mixture, pressing slightly to submerge.
- Cover with foil and bake 35–45 minutes until pasta is tender.
- Remove foil, stir gently, and check pasta doneness.
- Top with mozzarella cheese and bake uncovered 5–10 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh basil and serve hot.
