Description

This nostalgic Dunkaroo Dip is made with just 5 ingredients and tastes like the classic cake batter dip from back in the day. It is a fun, creamy party dessert that comes together quickly and is perfect for serving with animal crackers, pretzels, graham crackers, or your favorite dippers.

Ingredients

  • 1 box Funfetti cake mix
  • 1 tube (8 ounces) fat-free or light Cool Whip, thawed
  • 1 cup vanilla-flavored Greek yogurt (fat-free or low-fat works best)
  • 1/4–1/2 cup rainbow sprinkles, plus extra for topping if desired
  • Animal crackers, Teddy Grahams, pretzels, graham crackers, or Nilla wafers, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat-treat the cake mix: Spread the dry cake mix on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 5–10 minutes. Let it cool completely before using. If using a microwave, heat the cake mix in a microwave-safe bowl in short intervals, stirring between intervals, and verify it reaches 165°F throughout for food safety.
  2. Mix the dip: Add the cooled cake mix, thawed Cool Whip, and vanilla Greek yogurt to a large mixing bowl. Stir with a whisk or wooden spoon, or beat with an electric mixer, until smooth and no lumps remain.
  3. Add the sprinkles: Gently fold in 1/4–1/2 cup rainbow sprinkles.
  4. Chill: Transfer the dip to a serving bowl, add extra sprinkles if desired, and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes so it can set.
  5. Serve: Serve chilled with animal crackers, Teddy Grahams, pretzels, graham crackers, Nilla wafers, or other favorite dippers.

Notes

  • For the best texture, chill the dip for at least 20 minutes before serving.
  • Use fat-free or low-fat vanilla Greek yogurt and light Cool Whip if preferred.
  • Top with extra rainbow sprinkles just before serving for a colorful finish.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container or cover the bowl tightly and refrigerate for 4–5 days. Stir before serving again if needed.
  • Heat-treating the cake mix is important because raw flour in cake mix is not ready to eat. Allow the mix to cool completely before adding it to the dip.
