Description

This Chinese Beef and Broccoli is a quick and flavorful stir-fry featuring tender beef slices, crisp broccoli, and a rich savory brown sauce. Better than takeout and ready in just 30 minutes.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chicken stock
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons dry sherry
  • 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 head broccoli, cut into florets
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 teaspoons ginger, minced


Instructions

  1. Slice beef thinly against the grain and marinate with soy sauce, oil, cornstarch, and baking soda for 10 minutes.
  2. Mix chicken stock, soy sauces, dry sherry, sugar, and cornstarch in a bowl.
  3. Steam broccoli in a skillet with 1/4 cup water for 1 minute until tender-crisp. Remove and set aside.
  4. Heat oil in the skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Add beef in a single layer and sear for 30 seconds per side until lightly browned.
  6. Add garlic and ginger; stir-fry for 30 seconds.
  7. Return broccoli to the pan.
  8. Pour in sauce and stir until thickened, about 1 minute.
  9. Serve immediately over hot rice.

Notes

  • Add baking soda for extra tender beef.
  • Drizzle sesame oil at the end for extra flavor.
