Description
This Chinese Beef and Broccoli is a quick and flavorful stir-fry featuring tender beef slices, crisp broccoli, and a rich savory brown sauce. Better than takeout and ready in just 30 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda (optional)
- 1/2 cup chicken stock
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons dry sherry
- 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 head broccoli, cut into florets
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 teaspoons ginger, minced
Instructions
- Slice beef thinly against the grain and marinate with soy sauce, oil, cornstarch, and baking soda for 10 minutes.
- Mix chicken stock, soy sauces, dry sherry, sugar, and cornstarch in a bowl.
- Steam broccoli in a skillet with 1/4 cup water for 1 minute until tender-crisp. Remove and set aside.
- Heat oil in the skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add beef in a single layer and sear for 30 seconds per side until lightly browned.
- Add garlic and ginger; stir-fry for 30 seconds.
- Return broccoli to the pan.
- Pour in sauce and stir until thickened, about 1 minute.
- Serve immediately over hot rice.
Notes
- Add baking soda for extra tender beef.
- Drizzle sesame oil at the end for extra flavor.
