This big batch pomegranate margarita is perfect for entertaining. Pomegranate juice adds a fruity twist to the classic margarita, while tequila, orange liqueur, fresh lime juice, and agave create a refreshing crowd-sized cocktail.
Ingredients
- 16 oz tequila
- 8 oz Cointreau or triple sec
- 8 oz fresh lime juice
- 8–10 oz pomegranate juice, depending on how fruity you prefer your margaritas
- 4 oz or more agave syrup or simple syrup, to taste
- Salt or TajÃn, for rimming the glasses
- Ice, for serving
Instructions
- Add the tequila, Cointreau or triple sec, fresh lime juice, pomegranate juice, and agave or simple syrup to a large pitcher or drink dispenser.
- Stir thoroughly until all the ingredients are well combined.
- Cover and refrigerate for 2–3 hours or overnight to chill.
- When ready to serve, prepare glasses by rubbing a lime wedge around the rims and dipping them into salt or TajÃn.
- Fill each glass with ice and pour in the chilled margarita mixture.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Do not add ice to the pitcher: Keep ice out of the drink vessel so the margaritas do not become watered down. Serve ice separately in glasses.
- Adjust the sweetness: Start with 4 oz of agave or simple syrup and add more to taste.
- Adjust the fruit flavor: Use 8 oz of pomegranate juice for a milder flavor or 10 oz for a fruitier margarita.
- Prepare ahead: Mix the margaritas in advance and refrigerate for 2–3 hours or overnight before serving.
- Rim options: Use salt or TajÃn to coat the glass rims before pouring.
- Serving size: Makes approximately 6–8 glasses, depending on serving size.
