- 1 ½ cups butter, at room temperature (salted)
- ¾ cup confectioners’ sugar
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract (or lemon or orange extract)
- ¼ cup sprinkles (optional, for decorating)
Instructions

- Cream butter and sugar: Beat butter and confectioners’ sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3–4 minutes.
- Add dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and cornstarch. Gradually mix into butter mixture until smooth and creamy.
- Add flavoring: Stir in vanilla or your preferred extract.
- Shape cookies: Drop by spoonfuls or pipe onto baking sheets using a star tip. Decorate with sprinkles if desired.
- Bake: 15–18 minutes, or until edges are barely golden. Do not overbake.
- Cool: Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- Be sure butter is softened, not melted, for best texture.
- These cookies freeze beautifully — store up to 3 months.
