Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 dried chili peppers
  • 1 teaspoon dried chili flakes
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 14.5 oz crushed tomatoes, fire-roasted if possible (2 cans)
  • 2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 cups vegetable broth

  4. Add crushed tomatoes, balsamic vinegar, and vegetable broth. Stir and simmer 15 minutes until thickened.
  5. Remove from heat. Stir in vodka if using. Add fresh basil leaves to taste.
