Ingredients
Salisbury Steaks
- 1.6 pounds ground beef
- 4 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp coarsely ground black pepper
- 1 tsp dried onion
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter (for cooking)
Creamy Horseradish Parmesan Sauce
- 1 yellow onion, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp coarsely ground black pepper
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1/4 cup dry white wine (or beef/chicken broth)
- 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
- 1 tsp horseradish (more to taste)
- Chopped chives, for serving
Instructions
- Dice the onion and mince the garlic.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, egg, salt, pepper, dried onion, breadcrumbs, and mustard. Mix until just combined.
- Divide mixture into 4 balls and press down to 3/4 inch thick.
- Heat oil and butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear steaks 5 minutes per side; remove and set aside.
- Reduce heat to medium. Add onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and thyme. Cook 3 minutes.
- Deglaze with white wine; simmer 2 minutes, scraping brown bits.
- Add cream, stir in horseradish and Parmesan. Adjust horseradish to taste.
- Return steaks to skillet, top with chives, and simmer 5 minutes. Serve hot.
