Description

Fast, easy, and delicious sourdough garlic knots made with sourdough discard, perfect for a quick homemade treat.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough discard
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon parsley, chopped


Instructions

  1. Mix the dough: Combine sourdough discard, flour, baking powder, salt, and olive oil in a medium bowl. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough: Lightly flour a clean surface and knead for 2–3 minutes until mostly smooth.
  3. Divide and shape: Divide dough into 8 pieces, stretch each into an 8-inch rope, and tie into knots.
  4. Prepare for baking: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the knots with space between them.
  5. Bake: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Make garlic butter: Mix melted butter, garlic, and parsley in a small bowl.
  7. Brush knots: Immediately after baking, brush the knots generously with garlic butter.

Notes

  • Best enjoyed fresh and warm.
  • Optional variations: add Parmesan cheese, other fresh herbs, or red pepper flakes to garlic butter.
