Description

Irish Potato Farls are warm, crispy breakfast delights made from leftover mashed potatoes—quick, comforting, and deeply traditional.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups mashed potatoes (leftover and cooled)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine mashed potatoes, flour, salt, and melted butter. Mix for 2–3 minutes until a dough forms.
  2. Lightly flour your work surface and knead dough for 1–2 minutes until smooth.
  3. Roll dough into a 1/4-inch thick circle and cut into quarters to form farls.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat (no oil needed).
  5. Cook each farl for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. Transfer to a wire rack to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure mashed potatoes are completely cooled to avoid sticky dough. Knead gently to keep the farls fluffy.
