Description
Irish Potato Farls are warm, crispy breakfast delights made from leftover mashed potatoes—quick, comforting, and deeply traditional.
Ingredients
- 2 cups mashed potatoes (leftover and cooled)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine mashed potatoes, flour, salt, and melted butter. Mix for 2–3 minutes until a dough forms.
- Lightly flour your work surface and knead dough for 1–2 minutes until smooth.
- Roll dough into a 1/4-inch thick circle and cut into quarters to form farls.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat (no oil needed).
- Cook each farl for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Transfer to a wire rack to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Ensure mashed potatoes are completely cooled to avoid sticky dough. Knead gently to keep the farls fluffy.
