Description
A bold, comforting plate featuring tender honey garlic steak bites and juicy shrimp served over fragrant yellow rice. Sweet, savory, and perfectly balanced for a satisfying dinner.
Ingredients
- 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 lb sirloin or ribeye steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tbsp olive oil, divided
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- Salt & freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1/2 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 cup long-grain white rice
- 1 3/4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp cumin powder
Instructions
- Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add rice, turmeric, cumin, and salt; toast for 2–3 minutes.
- Add broth, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and cook 15–20 minutes until tender. Fluff and keep warm.
- Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté onion and bell pepper for 4–5 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- Season steak with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Sear in hot skillet for 2–3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- Reduce heat to medium and cook shrimp for 2 minutes per side until pink.
- Add garlic, honey, and soy sauce; toss shrimp and let sauce caramelize for 1 minute.
- Return steak and vegetables to skillet and toss until evenly coated.
- Serve steak and shrimp over yellow rice and drizzle with remaining sauce.
Notes
- Use jasmine rice for extra aroma.
- Add red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
