Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 lb sirloin or ribeye steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tbsp olive oil, divided
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt & freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 1 3/4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp cumin powder

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add rice, turmeric, cumin, and salt; toast for 2–3 minutes.
  2. Add broth, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and cook 15–20 minutes until tender. Fluff and keep warm.
  3. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté onion and bell pepper for 4–5 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  4. Season steak with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Sear in hot skillet for 2–3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  5. Reduce heat to medium and cook shrimp for 2 minutes per side until pink.
  6. Add garlic, honey, and soy sauce; toss shrimp and let sauce caramelize for 1 minute.
  7. Return steak and vegetables to skillet and toss until evenly coated.
  8. Serve steak and shrimp over yellow rice and drizzle with remaining sauce.
