- ½ cup cornstarch
- 1 egg, beaten
- Oil for frying
For the General Tso’s Sauce:
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- ¼ cup water
- 3 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch + 1 tbsp water (slurry)
- 1–2 tsp chili flakes or sriracha (adjust to spice preference)
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tsp grated ginger
For the Pizza:
- 1 prepared pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1–2 tbsp olive oil
- ½–¾ cup General Tso’s sauce (for the base)
- 1 cup fried chicken bites (tossed in sauce)
- ½ cup small broccoli florets (lightly steamed)
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- Optional: sliced green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: In a bowl, whisk the egg and toss chicken pieces to coat. Dredge in cornstarch until evenly covered.
- Fry the Chicken: Heat oil in a deep pan or wok over medium-high heat. Fry chicken until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Make the General Tso’s Sauce: In a saucepan, add soy sauce, water, brown sugar, vinegar, hoisin sauce, garlic, ginger, and chili flakes. Bring to a simmer for 2–3 minutes. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until thickened and glossy.
- Toss the Chicken: Add the fried chicken to the sauce and toss until evenly coated.
- Prepare the Pizza Base: Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F). Roll out pizza dough and brush lightly with olive oil. Spread a generous layer (½–¾ cup) of the General Tso’s sauce over the dough as the pizza base.
- Assemble the Pizza: Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly. Add sauced chicken bites, small broccoli florets, and sesame seeds on top.
- Bake the Pizza: Transfer to the oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Finish & Serve: Remove from oven, garnish with sliced green onions, and drizzle extra sauce if desired. Slice and enjoy your General Tso Chicken Pizza fusion masterpiece!
Notes
- Use pre-made dough for convenience, or make your own for a homemade touch.
- Adjust spice level by increasing or reducing chili flakes or sriracha.
