Ingredients

For the Chicken:

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breast (halal), cut into bite-size chunks
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Oil for frying

For the General Tso’s Sauce:

  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup water
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch + 1 tbsp water (slurry)
  • 12 tsp chili flakes or sriracha (adjust to spice preference)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger

For the Pizza:

  • 1 prepared pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 12 tbsp olive oil
  • ½¾ cup General Tso’s sauce (for the base)
  • 1 cup fried chicken bites (tossed in sauce)
  • ½ cup small broccoli florets (lightly steamed)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • Optional: sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: In a bowl, whisk the egg and toss chicken pieces to coat. Dredge in cornstarch until evenly covered.
  2. Fry the Chicken: Heat oil in a deep pan or wok over medium-high heat. Fry chicken until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  3. Make the General Tso’s Sauce: In a saucepan, add soy sauce, water, brown sugar, vinegar, hoisin sauce, garlic, ginger, and chili flakes. Bring to a simmer for 2–3 minutes. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until thickened and glossy.
  4. Toss the Chicken: Add the fried chicken to the sauce and toss until evenly coated.
  5. Prepare the Pizza Base: Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F). Roll out pizza dough and brush lightly with olive oil. Spread a generous layer (½–¾ cup) of the General Tso’s sauce over the dough as the pizza base.
  6. Assemble the Pizza: Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly. Add sauced chicken bites, small broccoli florets, and sesame seeds on top.
  7. Bake the Pizza: Transfer to the oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Finish & Serve: Remove from oven, garnish with sliced green onions, and drizzle extra sauce if desired. Slice and enjoy your General Tso Chicken Pizza fusion masterpiece!

Notes

  • Use pre-made dough for convenience, or make your own for a homemade touch.
  • Adjust spice level by increasing or reducing chili flakes or sriracha.
  • You can replace broccoli with bell peppers or pineapple chunks for variation.
  • Great with a sprinkle of crushed red pepper and a drizzle of extra sauce when serving.
