Description
French Toast Cups are a delightful twist on traditional French toast, perfect for breakfast.
Ingredients
- 6 slices brioche or challah bread
- 3 large eggs
- ¾ cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- Pinch of salt
- Butter or cooking spray for greasing
- Maple syrup, powdered sugar, or berries for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a standard muffin tin.
- Cut bread slices into quarters and gently press 3–4 pieces into each muffin cup, forming a cup shape.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until smooth.
- Slowly pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread cups, allowing it to soak in.
- Lightly press the bread down to ensure full absorption of the custard.
- Bake for 22–25 minutes until puffed, golden, and set in the center.
- Cool slightly, then remove from the tin and serve warm with desired toppings.
Notes
- Use a mix of brioche and challah for richer flavor.
- These can be made ahead and reheated in the oven.
- Add chocolate chips or nuts for extra flavor.
