Description

French Toast Cups are a delightful twist on traditional French toast, perfect for breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 6 slices brioche or challah bread
  • 3 large eggs
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • Butter or cooking spray for greasing
  • Maple syrup, powdered sugar, or berries for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a standard muffin tin.
  2. Cut bread slices into quarters and gently press 3–4 pieces into each muffin cup, forming a cup shape.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until smooth.
  4. Slowly pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread cups, allowing it to soak in.
  5. Lightly press the bread down to ensure full absorption of the custard.
  6. Bake for 22–25 minutes until puffed, golden, and set in the center.
  7. Cool slightly, then remove from the tin and serve warm with desired toppings.

Notes

  • Use a mix of brioche and challah for richer flavor.
  • These can be made ahead and reheated in the oven.
  • Add chocolate chips or nuts for extra flavor.
