Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 3 cups mashed potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Cook ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned; drain excess fat.
  3. Add onion and garlic; cook until softened, about 3–4 minutes.
  4. Stir in vegetables, tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  5. Simmer 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened.
  6. Transfer mixture to a greased casserole dish.
  7. Spread mashed potatoes evenly over the top.
  8. Dot with butter and sprinkle with cheddar cheese if using.
  9. Bake 20–30 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  10. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
