Description

These Easy French Dip Sliders are packed with tender roast beef, melted provolone cheese, and buttery caramelized onions, all baked on soft sweet rolls and served with rich au jus for dipping. Perfect for parties, game day, or an easy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 teaspoons fresh thyme, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 sweet rolls
  • 10 slices provolone cheese
  • 14 ounces sliced deli roast beef
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons dried onion soup mix
  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix
  • 3 cups water
  • Fresh chopped parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add onions and cook 12–15 minutes until soft and lightly browned.
  2. Add thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir, remove from heat, and set aside.
  3. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Keeping rolls attached, slice horizontally and place bottoms in an 11×7-inch baking dish.
  5. Layer half the provolone, roast beef, onions, remaining cheese, and roll tops.
  6. Mix melted butter with onion soup mix and brush over rolls.
  7. Cover loosely with foil and bake 25 minutes. Uncover and bake 5 more minutes until golden.
  8. Prepare au jus with water per package instructions.
  9. Serve sliders warm with au jus for dipping and garnish with parsley.

Notes

  • Use dried thyme if needed—use half the amount.
  • Sweet rolls are best, but any slider buns work.
  • Provolone or mozzarella both melt beautifully.
  • Au jus is optional but adds extra flavor.
  • Freeze baked sliders and reheat in the oven for best results.
