Description

Chocolate Turtle Cake is an incredible, ultimate dessert combining rich chocolate layers, caramel, and crunchy pecans. Perfect for celebrations or special occasions!

Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • Whipped cream for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, mix the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Stir until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.
  5. Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips to add an extra layer of chocolatey goodness.
  6. Divide Batter: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  7. Bake: Place the pans in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes. Check doneness with a toothpick; it should come out clean.
  8. Cool the Cakes: Once baked, allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes. Then, remove them from the pans and transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  9. Prepare the Caramel and Pecan Topping: While the cakes are cooling, mix the caramel sauce and chopped pecans in a bowl.
  10. Assemble the Cake: Place one layer of cake on a serving platter. Drizzle half of the caramel-pecan mixture on top. Add the second layer and repeat the process, topping with the remaining caramel and pecans.
  11. Serve: Optionally, add whipped cream around the edges for a beautiful presentation.

Notes

  • Ensure cakes are fully cooled before adding caramel to prevent melting.
  • Use good-quality chocolate chips for best flavor.
