Chocolate Turtle Cake is an incredible, ultimate dessert combining rich chocolate layers, caramel, and crunchy pecans. Perfect for celebrations or special occasions!
Ingredients
- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup caramel sauce
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- Whipped cream for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, mix the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.
- Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Stir until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.
- Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips to add an extra layer of chocolatey goodness.
- Divide Batter: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
- Bake: Place the pans in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes. Check doneness with a toothpick; it should come out clean.
- Cool the Cakes: Once baked, allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes. Then, remove them from the pans and transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Prepare the Caramel and Pecan Topping: While the cakes are cooling, mix the caramel sauce and chopped pecans in a bowl.
- Assemble the Cake: Place one layer of cake on a serving platter. Drizzle half of the caramel-pecan mixture on top. Add the second layer and repeat the process, topping with the remaining caramel and pecans.
- Serve: Optionally, add whipped cream around the edges for a beautiful presentation.
Notes
- Ensure cakes are fully cooled before adding caramel to prevent melting.
- Use good-quality chocolate chips for best flavor.
