This is the BEST chocolate chip banana bread. It’s incredibly moist, packed with ripe bananas, and loaded with melty chocolate chips. A classic, foolproof recipe that’s perfect for breakfast, dessert, or anytime you need a comforting homemade treat.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups ripe mashed banana (3–4 medium bananas)
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup 2% Greek yogurt (or sour cream)
- 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour (or 1-to-1 gluten-free flour)
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup mini chocolate chips, plus extra for topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In another bowl, whisk melted butter and sugars until smooth and paste-like.
- Add mashed bananas, eggs, yogurt, and vanilla extract. Mix until combined.
- Fold in dry ingredients until just incorporated.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and spread evenly. Sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top if desired.
- Bake for 60–75 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool completely before removing from pan. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
Notes
- For a gluten-free version, use a 1-to-1 gluten-free baking flour.
- Overripe bananas give the best flavor and moisture.
- Let the bread cool fully before slicing for clean cuts.
