Description

This is the BEST chocolate chip banana bread. It’s incredibly moist, packed with ripe bananas, and loaded with melty chocolate chips. A classic, foolproof recipe that’s perfect for breakfast, dessert, or anytime you need a comforting homemade treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups ripe mashed banana (34 medium bananas)
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup 2% Greek yogurt (or sour cream)
  • 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour (or 1-to-1 gluten-free flour)
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup mini chocolate chips, plus extra for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, whisk melted butter and sugars until smooth and paste-like.
  4. Add mashed bananas, eggs, yogurt, and vanilla extract. Mix until combined.
  5. Fold in dry ingredients until just incorporated.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips.
  7. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and spread evenly. Sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top if desired.
  8. Bake for 60–75 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Cool completely before removing from pan. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free version, use a 1-to-1 gluten-free baking flour.
  • Overripe bananas give the best flavor and moisture.
  • Let the bread cool fully before slicing for clean cuts.
