Description
Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos are crispy fried shrimp tossed in a creamy, spicy bang bang sauce, served in soft tortillas with fresh cabbage and avocado for a perfect taco night meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce
- 1 tbsp sriracha (adjust to taste)
- 8 small flour tortillas
- 2 cups shredded cabbage
- 1 avocado, sliced
- Lime wedges, for serving
Instructions
- Soak shrimp in buttermilk for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- Mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, salt, and black pepper in a bowl.
- Remove shrimp from buttermilk, dredge in flour mixture, then dip again in buttermilk.
- Coat shrimp in panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and fry shrimp in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Whisk mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, and sriracha to make bang bang sauce.
- Assemble tacos with cabbage, fried shrimp, sauce, and avocado.
- Serve with lime wedges.
Notes
- Add radishes or pickled jalapeños for extra crunch and heat.
- Swap shrimp for crispy tofu for a vegetarian version.
- Best served immediately while shrimp are crispy.
- Adjust sriracha for desired spice level.
